Ethiopian Opal gemstone stud earrings. SINGLE or Pair. Minimalist Iridescent Opal Stud. August birthstone gift. Wedding Opal earrings.

This tiny, precious rose cut Ethiopian Opal sparkles from the centre of a delicate 14k gold filled round tube bezel setting ear posts. All stones display good play of colour, and as is common with Ethiopian material, the body is translucent and the play of colour appears to hang suspended in the stone. Lovely effect from the rose cutting, enhancing the colours which dance across the stone. These little stud earrings have a matching butterfly backs. Available as a single stud or a pair of studs.

These Ethiopian opals have an excellent fire going right across the colour spectrum when viewed in sunlight. Vibrant flashes of fire run through these semi precious gems; greens, blues, ultra-violets and reds.

Every piece of jewellery tells a story, especially the jewellery you choose to celebrate the special events of your life. Treasured moments of wedding days, anniversaries and birthdays can be remembered in a beautiful piece of handmade, bespoke jewellery.

Opal is the traditional birthstone for October and the star sign of Libra. It symbolises purity, hope and truth. Traditionally people gift opals on 14th wedding anniversaries, but today some also consider it the alternative gem for 12th anniversaries.

One of the many legends that surround the opal is an ancient Australian aboriginal story about the creator of the universe. According to the tale, the deity descended to Earth on a rainbow. Where he touched the ground, the stones began to shine in every imaginable colour and that’s how opals were born. Later on when opals reached ancient Europe, people continued to believe they had magical powers.
